Brown Sugar Substitute
I scribbled this recipe down after seeing it on a show.  Probably an Alton Brown episode on the Food Network (Alton is quite the technical chemist).  Brown sugar in my pantry doesn't get used much unless it's the holidays, and as you probably know from experience, half will usually get tossed because it turns rock hard before being used again!  This recipe is perfect for a quick substitution.

  • 1 pound white sugar
  • 1½ ounces molasses

1.  Place in a food processor until mixture resembles brown sugar consistancy.

2.  Use immediately or store in an airtight container.
